Last year, we made a huge decision to move to Las Vegas from Los Angeles… why you ask? Well, with the rising costs of rent in LA and with the shift happening in the entertainment industry, we decided that lowering our overall expenses was the best choice for our situation. Las Vegas is only a 4.5 hour drive from LA and only a 30-45 minute flight. Also my family live in Las Vegas so having the choice to be near them seemed like the right decision especially knowing that we didn’t have to give up on our careers.
After almost a full year of living in Las Vegas, I can genuinely say that we love living in Las Vegas! I know what you’re thinking – how can you be around the casinos 24/7 all the time and how do you deal with that heat?! Well the truth is, my husband and I are hardly ever on the Las Vegas strip – only when friends are in town visiting. There is so much more to Las Vegas than just gambling, nightlife etc. There’s a nature aspect to this city which most people not from here don’t know about and oh my goodness THE FOOD and COFFEE! The food and coffee scene out here has been absolutely incredible and thats not an exaggeration – there is literally an abundance of phenomenal food out here and we haven’t even scratched the surface for what Las Vegas has to offer. As for the heat, well there’s no way around it. It is next level – at least to what we’re used to, but we learned to navigate around it and knowing that it is only crazy hot for 4 months out of the year made it not as intimidating. The rest of the year the weather is great! The spring and fall here is amazing especially for hiking and the winter is awesome, too! I didn’t know this before moving out here, but did you know that Las Vegas has a ski resort that is a 45 minute drive from the strip?!
And that got me thinking… I want to explore Las Vegas and show the other side of all the nightlife and casinos. Because there’s sooo much more to this city that people don’t realize! Don’t get me wrong, commuting back and fourth to LA for work has been a bit stressful and we do miss LA all the time, but it’s all worth it when the trade off is being near family, being able to afford a certain lifestyle and having the opportunity to work more on our goals!
